This is my daily go-to post-workout smoothie: it packs a sugary carb punch with the juice (great for glycogen repletion - aka recovery - after any weight session), protein, as well as two giant fistfuls of veggies - I'm a big fan of sneaking in veggies when I can to make sure I get my daily dose. It's such a light and refreshing smoothie it's also great for an afternoon energy pick-me-up, whether you're at the office or at the beach!
Greens Smoothie
Makes 2 servings
500ml pure pineapple juice (no added sugar), chilled is preferred
4 stalks celery
2 stalks kale, stems removed
2 scoops vanilla protein powder
1-2 handfuls ice cubes (optional)
Place all ingredients in a blender on low and blend until mixed, then crank it up to high to get it extra frothy!
Feel free to replace the pineapple juice with apple, orange, or another citrus juice of your preference - just be sure to keep it to pure juice (no extra ingredients beyond the fruit), and you can also swap out the kale for spinach.
